I first tried Ashtanga yoga in 1994 and over the years practiced sporadically, though I always found myself returning to yoga during challenging times in order to regain balance in my life. Now, as a teacher, I am motivated to help others discover the same authentic healing of mind, body and spirit. It wasn’t until I found true love for my role as a student that I discovered what I can offer as a teacher.

Yoga is not mere acrobatics but a holistic approach that unites the body, mind and spirit, bringing a harmonious balance to your system and a state of total well-being. The true practice is about connecting to yourself through compassion and respect, and being present in the moment. By holding poses and observing your breath, you can learn to pay attention to what’s going on right now, rather than dwelling on the past or the future.

I’m inspired to help others find their strength and explore their edge. I create a safe, warm and compassionate environment that also provides vigorous challenge if you want it. I teach Structural yoga, which I customize with elements of Hatha and Ashtanga. Emphasizing meditation and breath work, I play with sequencing to offer a dynamic flow that is fun and also very focused on alignment. My job, as a teacher of this amazing discipline, is to guide all students of yoga toward realizing their potential and their capacity for greatness. I help students not only learn to accept—but to be content with— where they are today. Life’s richness lies here in the present and that’s something worth pursuing!

YOGA FOR ONE

Traditionally, yoga was taught one-on-one. Private lessons provide a setting that allows your individuality to be fully addressed. Learning and practicing postures and breathing exercises at your own pace is the most effective way to realize the benefits of yoga. Private instruction is recommended for those who are just beginning or for individuals who would like to deepen their practice. It provides a solid foundation in the essential poses, preparing students for group classes. You can also explore ways to individualize your practice through a private lesson, as it provides the opportunity to ask questions about a particular pose, work through challenges and find modifications that are right for you. With my close attention, we may discover something new that will help to refocus and refresh your practice.

 

YOGA FOR ALL

I personalize poses for all body types and abilities within the class sessions, allowing for an unintimidating approach to yoga. I augment the dynamically flowing transitions of traditional Vinyasa practice by introducing personalized postural adjustments to ease newbies into practice and challenge stretching veterans. In beginner through advanced level sessions, I lead a series of poses that takes into consideration differences in body composition and flexibility, while emphasizing relaxation and conscious breath.
